James is a Director at LPA Legal Recruitment and heads our Private Practice division with a particular focus on associate and partner recruitment in London, throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. He has developed a considerable network of contacts and relationships within the legal sector that he is able to utilise strategically and pro-actively for the benefit of both clients and candidates alike.

Steven is a Director at LPA, his focus is principally within the Partners and Teams division. As a qualified Solicitor, Steven has over twenty years experience in private practice, including more than twelve at Macfarlanes. He joined LPA in 2004 and has been working in legal recruitment since 2002. With an excellent knowledge of the market and extensive contacts, Steven recruits Partners and teams of lawyers, high calibre Associates and Barristers into law firms in and around London as well as internationally.

Matthew graduated from a leading business school and has been a legal recruiter since 2002. He has worked with a number of corporate, investment and retail banks, fund/asset managers, securities brokerages and trading houses, placing qualified legal professionals up to General Counsel level. Drawing upon his strong network of legal professionals across private practice, he undertakes extensive recruitment at the Bar, sourcing high calibre barristers of all levels for leading commercial chambers.

Philip has substantial experience both in private practice and in legal recruitment. After qualifying as a Solicitor in 2003 he worked for leading firms before moving into legal recruitment in 2007. Philip has built up an extensive network of contacts across the legal market and advises and places Associates and Partners into law firms both in London and overseas.

Claudia graduated from the LSE with a law degree and completed the LPC course in 2004. After her LLM (Commercial and Corporate) in 2005, she worked for Euromoney for 6 years. As a publisher for the IFLR, she has dealt with numerous international and domestic law firms, travelling extensively to Asia, Europe and the Americas. Claudia focuses primarily on private practice firms. She has developed a substantial network of contacts and relationships across the legal market and can speak various languages including Mandarin and the Malay language.

Stephen is the founder and chairman of LPA Legal Recruitment and has, since 1995, advised many law firms, barristers chambers, banks and other financial institutions (including corporates) on strategic hiring and related issues. In 2005, he co-founded the first law firm with top-rated structured finance expertise exclusively for the ‘buy-side’ of the structured finance and derivatives market – David Doble Solicitors. Having guided the firm through to its affiliation with Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP, Stephen now concentrates on the strategic direction of LPA Legal Recruitment. He continues to highlight the importance of creating a Bondholders Forum for the structured finance market to European governments and regulators.

Shane is responsible for LPA Legal Recruitment's office management, ensuring smooth integration for clients and candidates between LPA Legal's key business areas. He is degree qualified in Computer Science and manages all supplier relationships in addition to dealing with HR, finance, marketing, IT and general management duties. With a technical background and cross-industry experience, he has worked in a similar capacity in the UK and internationally.

With a keen interest in the legal sector, Josephine provides research and support to consultants enabling them to be responsive to client and candidate mandates and helps deliver our modularised search service. Josephine has previously gained international experience working in France. In her spare time, she likes to walk her miniature wire-haired Daschund ‘Gus’, attempts to play tennis and undertakes a variety of music-related activities
